First Things First! MY MUST HAVE KITCHEN STAPLES (My family needs these basic LC staples to prepare delicious low carb meals) I believe you must first get rid of all high carbohydrate and sugary temptations and supply your kitchen with the basic low carbohydrate essentials! The "Rich Family" household list is long (we're LC Foodie Chefs, LOL) and your choices may be different but let's get started with my list and this will guide you with your selections. Don't forget to read labels and check net carbs. If you have any new additions for the basic LC kitchen essentials please email me! DAIRY & HEALTHY SUBSTITUTES Eggs or plain egg whites, Heavy Whipping Cream (zero carbs), Real Butter, Sour Cream (just the regular), Cream Cheese, American Cheese (0 carbs), Unsweeten Almond Milk or Unsweeten Coconut Milk. CONDIMENTS Heinz- no sugar added Ketchup, Hellmanns Real Mayonnaise (zero carbs), French's Mustard & Dijon Mustard. Ken's Steak House Dressings 1 carb for 2 Tbsp Varieties - Creamy Caesar, Buttermilk Ranch, Caesar Dressing and Marinade Lite Northern Italian with Basil and Romano, and Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing. All Watkins Farms Dressings (0 carbs). Jar of Jalepeno Peppers or fresh jalepenos,LC pickles, Mt. Olive Sugar Free Bread and Butter Pickles and Baby Gerkins (DELICIOUS!), Horse Radish, LC Cooking Wines, College Inn Chicken and Beef Broth (both= 0 carbs) Hershey's sugar free Chocolate Syrup. PASTA Dreamfields Pasta - many different varieties DRINKS Atkins Protein Shakes (no more then 2 carbs per shake),Diet Cranberry, Diet Crangrape, Decaf Teas & Purified Water (watch for high sodium diet drinks!) FLOURS Coconut Flour,Almond Flour, Golden Flax Seed Mill, Carb Quick Flour Mix and I always have a bag of unsweeten Coconut Flakes Note: If you can't find these items at your local grocery store you may order these products online at Netritions Super Store (link). VEGETABLES Lettuce's - Romaine (Caesar Salad), Bibb (lettuce cups)& Iceberg (for water content and easy wraps). Cucumbers, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Avocados (Hass), Radishes, Jicoma (we use this Mexican potato to make fries and many other things), Daikon (great sub for potatoes in soup) Green Beans (raw), Jar of LC Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Fresh Basil washed & placed in a zip lock baggy and put in the freezer for future use, jar of garlic cloves, Zuchinni, Squash, bag of shredded cabbage, lemon, lime, artichoke, egg plant and whatever low carb veggie you like. I use the lemon in a daily detox tea, which gets rid of tummy bloat ( I will post the 'get rid of the bloat'recipe below because it works!) and for preserving home made salsa. MEAT Free Range & Organic Fed Chickens and Grass Fed Meats, Wild Caught Cooked Tuna, 'Barbers' raw no crust stuffed Chicken Breast, Seafood - buy fresh the day you eat it or order fresh 'flash frozen' Seafood online at Vital Choice - Wild Caught Seafood and Organics (link) and if you need to order organic and grass fed meats online you may do so online at MeatHub (link) We always have Jimmy Deans Sausage on hand for Quiche without crust or a low carb crust! Lunch Meats- see my Protein Page listed in the Index box to the left and you will find net carbs on most top Deli Meats in that section! PANTRY All the Dry Herbs you LOVE, Sea Salt, Iodized Salt, Lite Salt, Coarse Black Pepper, Peppercorns Hunts no added sugar Spaghetti Sauce (2 or 3),LC Bella Vita variety flavored spaghetti Sauce (2 or 3) LC Dixie Diner Mashers, Sugar Free LC Oreo Cookies, Sugar Free Candies. Note: Hunts, Bella Vita, Dixie Diner products and SF Oreo's we could only find online at Netrition's Super Store (link). Preparation is key, before your first 2 weeks of the program have your kitchen ready. Read your diet strategy, write down your plans and goal weight loss.The valuable Atkin's books listed are my reason for success! Remember eggs during your first two weeks are a great source of protein and they're versatile, delish and cheap (but do not just eat eggs)! MODERATION IS KEY EVEN LIVIN' A LOW CARB LIFESTYLE! Before you know it the pounds start melting away and you'll start feeling more confident about your health & yourself esteem. Low Carb food is so delicious and healthy I don't know why you'd want to eat any other way. Don't forget to select a Diet Buddy. This Diet Buddy should have your best interest at heart! If you start to doubt your commitment to your weight loss efforts, remember this quote from Tony Robbins, "Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant." Memorize it if you must!! The second week start working on your kitchen pantry. You now have the basics so add nuts, farmers cheeses, olives and many other foods that are not allowed during your first two weeks. Prepare it by getting some great ideas from my snack page (make it fun!) and during that same week do some shopping at your local grocery store and stock your low carb refrigerator! The foods are delicious, low carb, low glycemic and I wouldn't have it any other way. A huge part of my research was trial and error until I found only the best Low Carb foods, PERIOD. THIS IS A GREAT RECIPE THAT WORKS! You are on your way to a healthier and thinner YOU. Next you will enter into your mid phase and that's when you get many more food choices. Stick to it and keep losing until you reach your goal weight and then you will enter the maintenance phase. Carb levels increase with each step. These are good carbs not sugary carbs! This is a way of life, and soon you will not even think about it, because you have the knowledge, information, and resources you need to be a complete SUCCESS!! ![]()
